How To Make Homemade Cleaning Recipes?

Making homemade cleaning recipes is a great way to save money while keeping your home clean and sanitary. Not only are these recipes often cheaper than store-bought options, but they also offer more natural and eco-friendly cleaning solutions.

If the cost of living makes you wince with the never-ending price hikes, not to mention the sea of plastic in the cleaning isles, then it’s time to get creative, save some money, and cut down on the environmental waste from all those toxic ingredients and plastics.

With the right ingredients and some know-how, you can make simple and effective homemade cleaning recipes that will leave your home spotless and smell great.

Before starting, it’s essential to understand which natural ingredients are best for cleaning. Vinegar and baking soda are two of the most versatile and practical cleaning ingredients, as they are highly effective at cutting through grease and grime and neutralizing bad smells.

In addition, many essential oils are great for adding a pleasant smell to your homemade cleaning recipes. They also have antibacterial, antiviral, and antimicrobial properties to kill germs and viruses.

Once you have your ingredients, a few empty spray bottles, and some sponges or cloths, it’s time to get creative!

If you are looking to buy natural cleaners, there are several excellent options that you can buy in grocery stores. When I am not making them, my favorites are Method All-Purpose Cleaner Spray and Mrs. Meyer’s All-Purpose Cleaner Spray, Basil.

How Do You Clean the Bathroom and Toilet Naturally?

Natural Laundry Detergent Recipe.

Laundry detergent is expensive, but there are great alternatives. Give this simple recipe a try. Our clothes are often not that dirty but need freshening up.

  • Grate one bar of Castile soap.
  • Add two teaspoons of baking soda to the grated Castile soap.
  • Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil.
  • Mix the ingredients until they are fully incorporated.
  • Place the mixture in a glass jar or container with a lid and store it in a cool, dry place.

To use your natural laundry detergent, add one tablespoon of the mixture to a load of laundry. Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle for extra odor and stain-fighting power.

Making your natural laundry detergent is an easy and affordable way to make your laundry routine more eco-friendly. You can also use the liquid Castille soap, a great multi-purpose natural cleaning agent. Follow the directions on the bottle.

Or try Nellie’s Non-Toxic Vegan Powdered Laundry Detergent. Liquid detergents are mainly water; this makes 100 loads and leaves clothes soft, fresh, and clean without residue or harsh chemicals.

How to Clean The Oven Naturally?

Create a paste with equal parts baking soda and vinegar. Spread the paste over the inside of the oven, including the door, walls, and ceiling. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.

Wipe away the paste with a damp sponge or cloth. It should come off quickly. Use a scrub brush on stubborn spots, then rinse off any soapy residue with a wet cloth.

This mixture works well on the top of the oven or dishes with baked-on grease.

Natural Carpet Cleaner Recipe.

To spot-clean your carpets and rugs, combine;

Mix the baking soda, white vinegar, and warm water until a paste is formed. If you’d like to add a pleasant smell, you can add several drops of your favorite essential oil.

Once the paste is mixed, spread it evenly on the carpet. Allow the paste to sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum up the residue. After vacuuming, your carpets should smell fresher and look cleaner.

Homemade Floor Cleaning Spray!

To make the spray, you’ll need the following;

Mix all the ingredients in a glass spray bottle and shake to combine.

Then, spritz the floor with the spray and use a microfiber mop or cloth to spread it around. Let the solution sit briefly before wiping it up for extra cleaning power.

If you use the swiffer type mops with paper mop pads, you will know how expensive they can be; try these reusable cotton mop pads that can be popped into the washing machine!

This homemade floor cleaner is great for laminate, linoleum, hardwood, and tile floors. Be sure to test a small area of your flooring before using it.

Olive Oil Furniture Polish Recipe!

To make a natural olive oil furniture polish, you’ll need the following;

Mix the olive oil, white vinegar, and lemon essential oil in a bowl. Pour into a small spray bottle and store it in a cool, dry place.

Or try Earth Friendly Products Furniture Polish with Olive Oil.

To polish your furniture with olive oil furniture polish, lightly dampen a soft cloth with warm water. Ensure not to saturate the fabric, as too much moisture can damage wood furniture. Then, spray your olive oil polish and gently rub it on the wood surface.

Work in small circles and the direction of the wood grain. When you’ve covered the entire surface, allow the polish to sit for a few minutes before buffing it off with a soft cloth.

Once you have your homemade cleaning recipes, test them on a small, out-of-the-way area before using them on the whole house.

With some experimentation, you can create homemade cleaning recipes to keep your home clean and smelling fresh. Not only can you save money by avoiding store-bought products, but you can also create eco-friendly solutions that are better for the environment!
