How To Get Natural Deodorants To Work?

You’re not alone if you are having trouble switching to a deodorant with more natural ingredients, which can be very frustrating. But take it from those of us who have done it successfully; it is possible, and once you are through to the other side, there is no need to rely on those products that contain unnecessary chemical ingredients.

The concern about the potential health risks associated with traditional antiperspirants and deodorants means that more people increasingly want to use natural deodorants made from plant-based ingredients. They are often free from potentially harmful ingredients such as aluminum, parabens, and phthalates. Still, they can seem less effective as your body struggles to adjust to this new type of deodorant.

But the fact is, natural deodorants do work as well as traditional antiperspirants and deodorants once your body is adjusted; I’ve found that not only do they work better, but that I often don’t need to use deodorant for days at a time, and this comes from someone who was previously looking for stronger deodorants as time went on.

If you’re considering switching to natural deodorants, here are some tips to help you get the best results!

Tips To Switch To Natural Deodorants.

Detox.

One of the most challenging periods in switching to natural deodorants is during the first few weeks. Your body is adjusting to the new ingredients and often being allowed to sweat for the first time in years. Antiperspirant stops you from sweating, while deodorant stops the odor.

As your body regulates more natural ingredients, you often sweat less, and the body works more efficiently. The human body was designed to be self-sufficient; we often need to get out of our way!

Make a paste from kaolin clay and use it under your arms; this will absorb odor and help pull out toxins; this can be very helpful when used nightly in the first few weeks!

Try using a detox product for underarmsor carry some underarm wipes with you; try Lume Deodorant Wipes; these items will help you through those initial few sticky weeks!

Choose The Right Ingredients.

The first step to getting natural deodorants to work is to choose the right product for your skin type. Your skin type and chemistry will respond differently to the ingredients of natural deodorants.

Natural Deodorant For Sensitive Skin;

Many natural deodorants contain essential oils like lavender, mint, and rosemary, which are antibacterial and smell amazing.

If your skin is sensitive, try using one that contains Tea tree oil, like Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant for Sensitive Skin – Tea Tree oil is fantastic for getting rid of the underarm odor and is well tolerated by most people.

Natural Deodorant If You Sweat a Lot.

Choose a deodorant with active ingredients that absorb wetness, like arrowroot; try Apology natural deodorants made with Arrowroot Powder and those that include Bentonite clay, like Stick Up Natural Deodorant for Women and Men with Bentonite Clay Powder.

KKaolin clay is a gentle absorbing clay featured in many natural deodorants; try Schmidt’s Aluminum Free Natural Deodorant, Coconut & Kaolin Clay. These ingredients absorb sweat and neutralize odor-causing bacteria.

Natural deodorant For Dry Skin.

Dry skin will respond well to deodorants formulated with Coconut oil; try moisturizing cream deodorants, like Little Seed Farm All Natural Deodorant Cream. Coconut oil has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help fight odor and soothe irritation.

Natural Deodorant For Normal Skin.

Normal skin can tolerate natural deodorants that include baking soda, which helps absorb sweat; if you can’t take this ingredient without getting rashes, look for natural ingredients that use ingredients with magnesium, like MAGSOL Natural Deodorant.

Different people may need other ingredients to be effective. If your natural deodorant isn’t working as well as you would like, try different brands or scents within the same brand until you find one that works the best for you.

Tips To Apply Natural Deodorants!

When using natural deodorants, it’s essential to apply them correctly. Too much or too little deodorant can cause the product not to be as effective. Try using a deodorant applicator if you use a cream deodorant to keep germs at bay! Make sure you use a thin layer of deodorant to clean and dry skin and give it time to absorb into your skin.

Depending on your activity level and how well it works, you may need to use a natural deodorant more than once daily. Ensure your skin is clean of sweat and dirt before applying or reapplying it.

We are probably all guilty of quickly running out the door for a night out and adding more deodorant quickly. Use a washcloth first, or try natural underarm wipes and scrub clean! This will help the deodorant stay put and work better.

Soak your underarms by taking baths infused with mineral salts. Dead Sea salts are fantastic. Magnesium salts will help balance your skin and minimize any odor. Please read this post on the benefits of Dead Sea salts and how great they are for detoxing the body.

Diet Tips For Your Natural Deodorant Switch!

Sweat and the odor it causes are often affected by what we eat. Please keep it clean and fresh by eating a healthy diet during this transition period. Eating whole-natural foods high in fiber, like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grains, can help reduce your body odor.

Avoid garlic, onions, and spicy foods, as they affect how your body smells and, thus, how well your deodorant works. Limit your intake of these foods, if possible, and see if your natural deodorant starts working better.

Drink More Water.

Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated, which can help flush the toxins from your body and dilute what you are eating. It can be hard to get the recommended six to eight glasses of water a day, but keep a portable water bottle on hand and make a point to sip regularly throughout the day.

Exercise More.

Get More exercise if you can during this period; it is best if you sweat it out daily; all the gunk clogged under your arms will be eliminated better when you allow your body to sweat and flush out all those toxins.

If you are afraid of the odor your body may produce without your usual deodorant, go outside and exercise in the fresh air. This will work wonders to make the transition to more natural deodorants easier!

Natural deodorants take time to work. It may take a few weeks for your body to adjust to the natural ingredients, so don’t expect it to work immediately. Allow time for it to work, and don’t be afraid to switch products; after a period of adjustment, they should all work for you. I have a wardrobe of deodorants I switch between, but I’m now at the point where I don’t need to use much at all.

Once you have made the transition, try making your natural deodorants. They are easy to make and often involve just a few ingredients. Try these recipes that don’t contain baking soda, and adapt them to suit you.

Keep going; the benefits of freeing yourself from products with ingredients you don’t need are worth it!
