How to use Murumuru Butter For Beautiful Skin And Hair!

What Is Murumuru Butter?

Murumuru comes from the Brazilian pam tree [Astrocaryum Murumuru Arecaceae]. Murumuru butter comes from the plant’s seed; this butter is more complex and waxy than Tucuma or Capuacua. It ranges in color from cream to deep yellow. However, the butter has a lovely feel and sweet, delicious, nutty scent, with trace smells of coffee and chocolate.

The complex, more waxy butter Murumuru still melts quickly on contact with the skin. It shares similar properties to Tucuma and comes from the same tree family. Both Tucuma and Murumuru are known for their vegetable silicone properties, making them valuable hair and skin cosmetic ingredients.

Murumuru is rich in antioxidants and high in vitamins A and C, Omega 3,6, and 9 fatty acids. This fatty acid profile includes 47% lauric acid and Myristic, Oleic, palmitic, and Linoleic acids.

The Benefits Of Murumuru Butter For Skin And Hair.

Murumuru’s rich anti-oxidant and fatty acid profile means that it has anti-oxidant, anti-viral, anti-septic, and anti-inflammatory abilities that contribute significantly to skin and hair health. The benefits of this butter include;

  • Softens, dry, frizzy, unruly hair
  • Healing for irritating troubled skin
  • Soothing for eczema and Psoriasis skin conditions
  • Treats sun-damaged or chemically-damaged hair
  • Moisturizing, firming emollient for skin.
  • Calms scalp conditions
  • Anti-aging for skin and hair

Murumuru is an excellent butter on its own, although it benefits from being melted first for ease of use. While similar to the seed fat of turmeric and coconut, it has a higher melting point of 33 degrees C than that of turmeric, which is 30 degrees C. Adding Murumuru to other types of butter keeps them more solid at room temperature.

What To Look For When Buying Murumuru Plant Butter?

The plant butter from the Amazon Rainforests has fantastic benefits for hair and skin. Buying this type of butter can also help the forests, as the trees become valuable commodities.

Look for fair trade co-operations that ensure their products are wildcrafted and sustainably sourced to preserve these precious trees and the livelihoods of the people who live and work in and around the forests.

Raw, wild-harvested, unrefined butter keeps the plant benefits intact. They also pose no threat to the environment through potentially harmful processing practices or chemical spraying.

Working with responsible partners also ensures that people and plants are protected. Buying these products correctly means the trees are seen as a valuable commodity and source of income and are not threatened by deforestation for the logging or agriculture industries.
